Revelation 20:14 "Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
The Book of Life has the names of all the people who believed in Jesus and accepted him as their Savior Messiah, and so those did not, according to this verse, will end up in a lake of fire.
I do not believe this means eternal suffering, since the verse clearly says this is the second death, not eternal life in fire, but it would still be a terrible fate if it were true.
Jesus asks us one thing, to believe in him with faith, to believe he is the Messiah and the Son of God who was sent to the Earth by God to save us, and so Jesus now has the power to save us, but it is a free invitation that everyone must accept by having faith in Jesus.
He was the most loving man who ever lived here, he spoke a lot of truth and spread a message about loving one another, he gave up his own life to save ours, and now he wants to save everyone, but you all have free will, you get to choose if you want to enter the afterlife or if you want to face any consequences of dying in a sinful state.
After you accept Jesus as your savior, I believe you are born-again as a new creation, as the Scriptures say, and so you are now holy and righteous before God and ready for the afterlife. Jesus died on the cross to take all of our sins upon himself as a sinless man, so that when he was resurrected from the dead, he would now have the power to forgive our sins and to resurrect us from the dead, so that in our new bodies, we are then able to live in the direct presence of God without dying, so without Jesus you cannot survive a direct encounter with a holy God, and so you are not ready for Paradise or the afterlife without first accepting Jesus as your savior.
