Why does Disney+ need to know my gender to watch?

Ive had the D+ account for about 11 months now. Ive only used it a handful of times. (I got it for free). Last night I was going to watch something and had to re-login on the app on roku.

Why on earth is my GENDER necessary to watch some cartoons? I wanted to submit this on the disney sub, but it doesnt seem to fit the other posts there.
