We've seen it with every once-wholesome franchise imaginable: Star Wars, Star Trek, Ghostbusters, The Witcher, Cowboy Bebop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, and now, Scooby-Doo. All rebooted into terrible, mangled depictions of their former selves.
Injected into every franchise is the guaranteed recipe for controversy. The original, heroic themes are transformed into depressive, nihilist, or naive worldviews by every character. Apolitical, timeless works are politicized with contemporary messages. Characters genders and races are intentionally altered until they are reduced to tokenist versions of their former selves where there physical features are now their only defining features.
Now, when children look up these franchises that their parents have sung the praises of for the first time, they're exposed to a propagandist's dream where every fan is an accused sexist, racist, politically-aligned, spoiled, adult-baby pedophile. Every fandom has become irreversibly balkanized by the creation of these parodies along political lines.
If you think Hollywood's purse holders are blind to the fact that their incessant reboots are stirring controversy and bombing left and right, you're wrong. They are well aware that they are staining the franchise itself with their works and are cackling with glee. It's all part of the intentional destruction and defacement of the Western canon of cinema.
