I have no idea what these are, but they certainly do not look natural to me! Especially considering they exist on what is currently the ocean floor. These are scans taken from bathymaps.com.au. After raising the brightness of the image in GIMP, they are much easier to see. I fully understand, that while some of these structures do not appear to be natural, it is possible that they are. Or, that the scanning equipment created these odd shapes from the limited scan data available. (Unsure what accuracy of scan this is, bathymaps states they have an accuracy of 30m) Unfortunately, this place is not as visible on google maps. The same level of detail does not exist but is provided below. (It looks are though it may exist, as there is a very detailed section running horizontally towards the top of the google image) Interestingly enough, some of the shapes appear to be similar, though. Link to the same location on google maps. - Google Earth I'll be the first to state that this could be anything and is very unlikely to be some sort of man-made structure. But if it's natural, or a fault of the scan, can someone explain that more to me? I have quite a few of these interesting places saved within my files at home. This is not the only odd structure that I have found and want to investigate in some meaningful way. EDIT: I have decided to add the additional areas that I believe are related to the above. These areas are fully visible on google maps. One of the theories I have for these off structures, is that they are remnants of King Solomon's Mines. The area is just south of the Solomon Islands, (which was named as much due to it being the original place the mines were thought to exist) Directly south of the region pictured above (Red Square), exists another small group of islands with some interesting features. (Green Arrow) Zooming in here, you can see a couple of interesting things.
This falls in line with the minerals that were supposed to have been mined from King Solomon's Mines. Moreover, the entire left hand side of this underwater mountain, looks exactly like I would expect mines to look like, if they were dug into the side of it. Could all be 100% Natural formations. Or something else entirely! But regardless, it is pretty dang cool :) [link] [comments] |
