The whole "turn off the screens and go outside" is kind of a load of horse shit. It's the same with exercising and eating well (which doesn't magically fix your problems). It's a classic example of good advice that only works well if everyone follows it. I am mid 20s for context. Many people my age are fixated on the most pointless shit, in fact most people in general are. The obsession with culture is moronic. Most of what people believe consist of ideas or thoughts that have been spoon-fed to them
IDK. I don't get how people are able to sit around and cope with porn, video games, TV, etc. Even this subreddit. Ideally you'd expect to find the "truth" here, but if you're keen you'll realize that you're still in the dark, an individual has no way of knowing what is happening on the largest scale, and even less so what the most sensible course of action is. Some of the posts on here people will blindly believe because it supports their worldview and then you think to yourself "okay, but is this actually representative of objective reality?" whatever that means..
In the past, my hope has been psychedelics, but unfortunately I don't think that solution applies to everybody (dare I say anybody, and this is coming from someone who has a few years of usage at different dosages under my belt). It can be observed that the people that seem to respond well to them initially, eventually their usage tapers off because they encounter some horrific trip. If not, they (psychedelics) do not appear to be a lasting solution at solving deep existential discomfort and a lot of problems humans universally experience. Even during the most enlightening experiences I've had, it usually required going through some wildly uncomfortable sequences of thoughts and feelings (often termed ego-dissolution/death, I suppose). Ultimately the experience ends anyway and you just feel blue-balled. Back to the world of dualism, but you're not sure why. 30 minutes ago it was all about love and being, but now, that doesn't quite make sense.
Then, of course, for a lot of people, they simple cannot handle the type of experience psychedelics offers even if they had the courage to try it. With these people they wind up doing some off the wall shit that makes you wonder if they were possessed or something. Complete loss of control. Which some argue is the point, okay, but then what do you make of the people that in that state go and present danger to themselves or others?
If life is not deterministic then it is a puzzle on the absolute hardest difficulty fucking possible. To feel like you only have yourself to rely on, and to feel like if you want to see change it must come from yourself... when considering how many aspects of life are nebulous, illusory and twisted. The barriers presented by the government, law enforcement, the potential consequences of questioning authority or the majority. Realizing that we're all self-driven and some people take that to the extreme and will lie and manipulate to get ahead.
What a situation it is, to be alive.
Fuck.
